چکیده

When manufacturing parts using material extrusion additive and anisotropic polymers, the mechanical properties of a manufactured component are strongly dependent on print trajectory orientation. We conduct non-planar slicing optimize trajectories to maximize alignment between deposition direction stress flow induced by predefined load case. The optimization framework considers manufacturability constraints in form uniform layer height line spacing. demonstrate method bearing bracket 5-axis 3D printer liquid crystal polymer material. failure strength stiffness optimized improved factor 44 6 respectively when compared with conventional printing.

Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing

This paper gives an overview of the issues and opportunities for the application of topology optimization methods for additive manufacturing (AM). The main analysis issues discussed are: how to achieve the maximum geometric resolution to allow the fine features easily manufacturable by AM to be represented in the optimization model; the manufacturing constraints to be considered, and the workfl...

Self-supporting Topology Optimization for Additive Manufacturing

The paper presents a topology optimization approach that designs an optimal structure, called a self-supporting structure, which is ready to be fabricated via additive manufacturing without the usage of additional support structures. Such supports in general have to be created during the fabricating process so that the primary object can be manufactured layer by layer without collapse, which is...

Polymers for 3D Printing and Customized Additive Manufacturing

Additive manufacturing (AM) alias 3D printing translates computer-aided design (CAD) virtual 3D models into physical objects. By digital slicing of CAD, 3D scan, or tomography data, AM builds objects layer by layer without the need for molds or machining. AM enables decentralized fabrication of customized objects on demand by exploiting digital information storage and retrieval via the Internet...

Support structure constrained topology optimization for additive manufacturing

Background: With recent advances in additive manufacturing (AM) and topology optimization (TO), there is a significant interest in integrating the two fields [1]. Although TO and AM have flourished independent of each other, there is significant interest today in integrating them for two primary reasons: (1) Designs stemming from TO are geometrically complex, and therefore hard to manufacture u...

Shear Waves Through Non Planar Interface Between Anisotropic Inhomogeneous and Visco-Elastic Half-Spaces

A problem of reflection and transmission of a plane shear wave incident at a corrugated interface between transversely isotropic inhomogeneous and visco-elastic half-spaces is investigated. Applying appropriate boundary conditions and using Rayleigh’s method of approximation expressions for reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained for the first and second order approximation of the...
